EROICA CLUB CONCERT.
It is one of the perennial grievances of parents that their daughters no sooner discontinue their lessons in music, perhaps after years of .tuition, than thev drop their practices, with the result of finding themselves soon reduced again to mediocrity. A movement in the direction of maintaining a standard of pionciency by combined effort and wholesome rivalry is therefore to bo heartily commended, and that is exactly what tho "Eroica Club" have set themselves lo do. Last nicht at Jellicoe Hall, in tho presence of their invited friends, they gave a very enjoyable demonstration of their attainments. The example might well be imitated and other similar circles founded. Bv the doing of music as much as by" the hearing is furthered Us cause for with increasing individual «kill eroW interest and understanding. There is no intention of a specialised criticism of the performances of an unconventional but we 1-chosen programme. All the pianists, Mesaames leav and Cyril White, the Misses A??/r Carter; Lorimer, Olive Cooper, PW Thompson, May Barber and Ida t i ,t,« and Mr Cordery, offered convindng evidence of having graduated Enm f very good school. Miss Nancy FosTcr P™7ed g 'cello soli, and Mr Les- «» Fleming contributed vocal numbers. Ever? available seat of the hall was and warm applause unsparingf" given by a most appreciative audience. , .
