COLONIAL MUTUAL LIFE OFFICE. -y

Judging "by wn announcement in another column, the Colonial Mutual Life has made remaikable progress sinco its foundation in 1873. List.year's businecg constituted a record, both in regard to volume of new business and surplus. ikinusea on whole life and endowment assurance policies in the ordinary department are on a very generous seme, ranging irom per cent, tor tne first year, up to a!U on po-icioß of longest duration. , _ in the Industrial Department bonuses are also declared annually, and range irom per cent, for the lust year to £2 on policies which liave been ten years in torce. The Society is purely mutual, and all surpluses belong to tne policyholders, who retain the sole "fcontrol of its management. In furtherance of the mutual idea many liberal features'have been introduced by the Colonial Mutual, notably the institution of a. free nursing service in the m ; iin cities, and the distribution of free health literature to industrial policyholders. In the Accident Department the mutual idea is also the keynote of the Society's policy, and tha teurpmß arising out of each year's operations is distributed annually in the shape of bonus additions to the benefits conferred by the policies. Tho Colonial Mutual Life completes its jubilee with an army of policyholders numbering over 200,000, which is a tribute to its management, and an indication of the great pait played by life insurance in the complex structure of modeiß civilisation.
