WILLS DEFEATS MADDEN
(beutzb's telegrams.) (.Received June 10th, 7.55 t>.m.) NEW YOBK, June 0. Harry Wills, the negro heavy-weight, won the judge's decision over Bartley M. Madden, the New York Irishman, after 15 rounds.
The championship aspirations of WillG sustained " a set-back when the giant negro failed to knock out Madden. Wills won the decision by a decisive margin. Madden, fighting one of his most- courageous battles in years, stood up under terrilic attacks. Wills employed his great advantage in reach and battered Madden all over the ring. He opened nasty cuts about hiß opponent's ears, mouth, and eyes. Fighting tho last four rounds with a stream of blodd blinding his vision, Madden ■was.no more than shaken. Sometimes, the crowd of 20,000 was brought tp its feet in recognition of his gamenc:s in lashing out a cor. liter-offensive. Wills had Madden on the verge of a knock-oui at least twice —in tuo fifth and twelfth. rounds'.
