The Chinaman, Ah Foon, who ran amok in Innisfail Queensland), and killed another Chinaman, has been declared insane and committed to an asylum.
The Premier of West Australia (Mr Collifr), stated that for the past five or six years the State deficit ha s been Jt650,000. This year it will close with' a deneit of about £300.000. That, he says, is too high, being almost £1 a head of the population.
A report fronr General Gaujardo to the Mexican War Department, state* that General Fortunato Maycotte, one of the leading commanders in La Huerta's rebellion, Leovigildo Aviln, his Chief of Staff, and Manuel Flores, were executed after a court-martial at Pohutla.
The British Empire was among the countries represented at a conference at tha Quai d'Orsay, for the exchange of view s preliminary to the Migration Conference. The discussion dealt particularly with immigration problems. It is understood that the delegates agreed on the principle of a common policy regarding technical questions, such as labour conditions and insurance, in immigration countries. •-.
If the Brisbane police carry out their decision to march on the Government, the Home Secretary will, refuse to see them, "and if they decide on direct action to strike the Minister will resist the strike. The Acting-Premier states that Cabinet has decided that if the police make a. demonstration, to secure redress aof alleged grievances, the Government will be, compelled to regard the action as an unfair attempt to force a decision. The English Rugby League team has arrived.at Fremantle. The naked body of a woman, found at' Long Bajf (Sydney), has been identified as that ,of May Anderson, aged 29, and married, who had been in gaol Several times. It is now established [ beyond doubt that she. was most brutally murdered. The cause of death was hemorrhage and shock. Death occurred during the" last few days; but it is not known how long the body I was*in the scrub'. *
