OVERHANGING TREES.
TO THE EDITOn OF "THE PRESS." Sir, —I had not intended troubling 3'ou further on thiß subject, but the replies to my original letter lead mo to think that I have given the impression that I do not object to branches that sweep one's hat off, etc. I certainly do, and in all ouch cases the obstruction should be cut back, but .not cut down. If "Eepton street" will read my letter moro carefully than he has evidently done, ho will realise that I am referring to a concreto example, viz.: Webb street and Papanui road. . "Eepton street" says "overhanging" adds to the beauty of the road, and should bo maintained, but sufficient head-room should be given. As there is amplo head-room in the cases mentioned by me, "Kcpton street" should have commenced his letter "I agree," instead of "I disagree." The matter of roundod corners or low fences at a corner is quite another question. "Fair Play's" second letter does not call for any replv.—Yours, etc., , H. C. RIDLEY. .110 Merivale Lane, February 4th. 1924.
