A SOUTHERN TOUR. (special to "the fbesb;") WELLINGTON, February 4. The Hon. J. G. Coates, Minister of Public Works and Eailways, hopes to go south- about Thursday evening, accompanied by Mr E. W. MeVilly, General' Manager, and Mr Jones, the new Engineer-in-Chief of Eailways, to inspect the railway lines south of Timaru. The itinerary will include Otago and Southland, where several lines will be inspected. In his capacity of Minister of Public Works, Mr Coates will also visit Central Otago, where road construction and irrigation will engage his attention.
