WAITAKI POWER SCHEME.
o At a meeting of the Waitaki Power Board held at Oamara this week, the board approved the 6cheme of I. I>alraer, engineer, to "put a proposal before the ratepayers to borrow £135,000 for reticulation of the hoard's district, this amount not to be borrowed immediately, bat only as required; and the board does not intend proceeding with the lines tmtil sufficient guarantees are forthcoming from settlers to absorb sufficient current to make each line a paying proposition. This loan includes the balance of the purchase price ot the borough council's plant, and also a sum of -£SOOO for loans to consumers for installation purposes; and £1K)(J0 for workers' dwellings. •' The chairman stated that it was probable that the board would be more in favour of linking up witli Waipori than with Lake Coleridge; but the board is sending a strong representation to a conference with the Otago Power Board and the Dunedin City Council, and will probably fall in with their ideas.
