(press association telegram.)
BLENHEIM, January 2o
A hint of sensational developments ill municipal matters was contained in. a brief discussion at the Borough Council meeting last evening oil the subject of the resignation of the borough engineer, Mr M. Af. W . Richardson. At the conclusion of the meeting Councillor AV. T. Churchward said he de-sired-to move aa follows: —"(1) That Mr Richardson be requested to withdraw his resignation of tho office of borough engineer upon' completion of the -waterworks and "W-aterlea footbridge; (2) that Mr. Richardson continue to act as borough engineer in conformity with, duties to be definitely set out!"
Mr Richardson's resignation, is due to. o quarrel with the Mayor, Mr E. S. Parker- The engineer - alleged that the Mayor insulted him and therefore resigned. The Mayor objected to the matter being taken, without notice of motion, because there was more behind it than councillors were aware of. He went on to state that it appeared as if the council would have to choose between the Mayor and the engineer. Mr Churchward then' gave formal notioe of motion.
