WEDDINGS.
SALKELD—HOPE. The Shirley Methodist Church was the scene of a very pretty wedding when Averil Iris, only daughter of Mr and Mrs F. W. Hope, Chancellor street, Shirley, was married to Leonard Bray son, elder son of Mr and Mrs JSalkeld, Burwood. The church had been prettily decorated with arum lilies, lilac and banksia roses. The Rev. J. Guy officiated and the bridal music wr.B played by the organist and choirmaster, Mr W. Marks.
The bride, who was given away by her father, looked dainty in a cream satin,frock with panels and sleeves of gold and silver lace, the waist line being defined by a trail of hand-made flowers in gold and silver tissue. Her filmy veil, which was hand embroidered in gold and silver, was held in place with a wreath of gold leaves and a posy of orange blossom. She carried a beautiful shower bouquet of crer.m roses, lily of the valley, and maidenhair fern. Two bridesmaids were in' attendance, Miss Irene Simpson, in a delicate shade of crocus mauve crepe de chine with sleeves and panels of radium lace to match, and ft tulle veil to tone, held in place by a wreath of tiny posies. She carried a shower bouquet in lemon anemones, maidenhair fern, trails of tulle and ribbon. Miss Mabel Hawkins wore shrimp pink crepe de chine, with sleeves and panels in radium lace, and a tulle veil to tone, held in place by a wreath of posies to match, and she also carried a shower bouquet of pink anemones with black centres. TTie bridegroom was attended'bv his brother, Mr Jack Salkeld, and Mr Tom Johnstone. ' While the register was being signed the choir contributed an anthem, A erception was afterwards held in the Jellicoe Hall, which was beautifully decorated with howls of arum lilies and pot plants and. streamers of black and orange, pink, and mauve. Mrs Hope, who received the puests, wore satin, relieved' with Oriental trimmings and fringe, black lace and panne velvet hat, with ostrich plume and pink roses, and a marabout stole. She carried a bouquet of lavender and mauve. The bridegroom's mother wore a French grev silk frock with vest of cream lace r.nd net and a black hat with posies, and a msrabcut cape. Her bouquet was of lily of the valley and maidenhair fern.
The bride's travelling costume was of heipre cloth hand embroidered in the same shade, hat to; tone, and marabout wrap. V After the wedding breakfast the hall was cleared for dancing, and music was supplied by Mr Rettle. Songs were contributed hy Miss Vivian Ralph, Miss MoFv Meyrick, Messrs W. J. Salkeicl, J. H. Cocks, and Mr Ray Collins. A comfortable cosy corner was provided for the chaperons and nondancers. TVRDEIC —WILLIAMS. fspECIXX* TO "THB PHZBS.") GIIEYMOUTH, December 3. The wedding was solemnise'd this afternoon at St. Paul's Methodist Church of Miss Elizabeth Winifred Williams, daughter of Mr and Mrs It. J. Williams, Puketahi street, and Mr Vincent Tvrdeic, of Greymcuth. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, was attired in white brocaded crepe de chine, and also wore a wreath and veil. She carried a shower bouquet of rhododendrons and roses with maidenhair fern. The bride was attended by her sister, Mies L. Williams, who wore apricot brocaded crepe de chine, with black tulle hat. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr J. C. Williams,- brother of the bride. The Itev. B. J. James officiated. After the ceremony, a reception was held the residence of the bride's parents, where the usual toasts were honoured. Mr and Mrs Tvrdeic leave by to-mor-row's express for Auckland on their honeymoon.
