FIRE BOARD.

The Christchurch Fire Board met last night. Present: Messrs A. Williams (chairman), J. ft. Cameron, P. H. Harris, K. Robinson, H. R. R Us ! bridge, and E. H. Andrews. An apology was received for the absence of Mr H. Holland.

Messrs Blactfbume, Smith and Co. wrote iu regard to damage to their building, adjoining the chief fire station, from spray, and stating that they would accept £l7 6s, cost ot painting, with the architect's fee added, in satisfaction of their claim for damages. The letter was received and the executive was authorised to take any steps it considered necessary. ■ Superintendent C. C. Warner reported that the staff was up to its authorised strength, and that every member was fit and well. He expressed regret at the death of Mrs Douse, wife of the station omcer at St. Albans. He had written to Messrs TiMing and Stevens stating that the Board did not quire a ten-inch fire-bell mentioned in the specifications and asking: for an allowance on that item as the brigade would fit a bud-sounding syren on arrival of the turntable ladder in New Zealand.
