Amongst the priz-3-takers at the 'Royal Show were two Black Orpingtons belonging to a Tasmnnian exhibitor. The other exhibitors raised objections, resulting in the officials adopting methods which disclosed white feathere in their tails. The owner of the birds admitted that be liad coloured these with blackload. The practice was allowed in Tasmnnian shows. He had no intention to deceive. The judges disqualified the birds, but stated that, if the birds had been left without blacklead thoy would have secured prizes.
