At 8/ meeting of the Otago Centre of tlhs New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association t, resolution was carried— "That tine Wellington Art Union tickets be returned and if an Otago man is selected for Australia-, then the Otago Centre will undertake to finance him." A letter drafted for the New Zealand Council asks why the Otago centre ia not acquainted with the Wellington Art Union proposal. "It has been noticed from the report of the council meeting that only five members attended, w&ile the rules provida 'or quorum of six." the letter continues. "Pinpricks against the Otago Centre by the council are not in tie best interests of the sport in Otago, and indirectly IVew Zealand. As, through the action of the council, business men and thosa endeavouring to further amateur sport in this part of the Dominion could not waste valuable tinia ■wnen obstacles were for ever placed ia v their way by the parent body, it was not to be wondered at that the harrier sport m centres outside "Wellington was not in a Wealthy condition, if Centre committees had to tolerate from the parent body what the Otago Centre has had to take during tiho past few months."
