AKAROA-WAINUI ROAD BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING.^ At the montly meeting of the AkaroaWainui Road Board there were present: Messrs A. K. Mouid (chair), W. H. Moore, S. J. Vogan, A. li. Hayiock and J. Haywuid. The Akaroa Domain Board aakad that the road leading down to the Akaroa cemetery be metalled. The Dissenting Cemetery liourd also wrote drawing attention to the bad state of the roads approaching the cfcmetery and to th-o growth oi noxious weeds. Mr Hayiock remarked that %he road certainly needed attention. It had not been metalled for 20 years. Members agreed that the road should bo improved, but considered that both oomplaining boards should clear their frontages of noxious growths. The metalling asked for would be done as soon as possible. , The tender of F. D. Le Comte at 2s 3d per yard for epalding SOO yards of metal at waa accepted, the work to be started within a fortnight and completed within 9 weeks. The financial report showed:—Receipts, £36 16a sd; acoount for payment, £292 03 sd; dr. balance Bank of Ivew Zealand, £lB6 lis 4d; loan account cr. balance, £471 lis lOd; Rocounts presented, £243 lis 2d; amount of outstanding rates, £4O. The ohairman reported that the damaged bridge between Barry's Bay and French Farm had been found to be bo rotten that ho imd decided to have a culvert put in instead of having a new bridge built, at ft cost approximately of £l3O. In reference to requests for crossing into private property the Board decided to notify ratepayers that they themselves must put in crossings where the roads were be'-ng damaged. Mr Royfec, of Duv-auclielle, was notified that he must make an alteration at his croasing, as* at present Mr S. Warwick's property adjoining was being flooded in heavy weather. A oomplaint having been received from a ratepayer on Hewitt's road to the effect that debris removed from a slip had been thrown into his property, Messrs Moore and Hayiock were deputed to see to the matter.
