KAIAPOI BEAUTIFYING ASSOCIATION.
The annual meeting of the Kaiapoi Beautifying Association was he*d last night, Mr 1. n. ±3iaciitveU presiding over a large attendance. Tiie annual report stated that the work of the Association for the first year was most successiul in co-operation with the K S.A. The clearing up of the river bank had been completed, and the Association had taken oyer the care of the war memorial and engaged a .permanent gardener. This would enable them to extend their work and lay out a r garden in Charles Btreet, which would soon be a centre of attraction. The organisation of a carnival in March had given an excellent financial result. The balance-sheet showed receipts £937 la 9d, expenditure £370 16s lid, and a credit balance of' £166 4» lOd. Tbe report and balance-sheet were adopted. The following officers were elected:—Patron, the Hon. D. Buddo, M.P.; president, Mr H. W. Trousselot; vice-presidents, Messrs A. Pearce, Dr. M. Ramsay and Dr. Gillett; secretary, the Rev. W. B. Scott; treasurer, Mr G. P. March; assistant secretary, Mr T. R. Leithead; committee, Mesdames W. B. Scott, G. E. Gilett, H. W. Trousselot, H. Macintosh, G. Martin, D. P. Brennan, J. H. -Slackwell, "W. H. Keetley, H. W. Childs and G. E. March, Mfesara F. Thome, "W. A. Wallace, R. S. Joyce, F. Fisher, J. Bjrst, R. Belcher, R. J. Logan, T. R. Leithead and H. Macintosh; ■Works Committee, Messrs H. W. Trousselot, W. B. Scott, G. E. March and Dr. M. Ramsay. It was decided that the Works Committee, with the Returned So'.iders' Association, should take in hand unemployment relief, by carrying out work on the Waimakarari ilarbour Board sections in Charles street. It was also decided to consider the question of raising funds for the erection of gates to commemorate the jubilee of the X»i»jxd
