RECORD BUILDING YEAR. (BT CABLE —PEESS ASSOCIATION —COPTKiaHT.) (AUSTBAUAIf AND S.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATI.'OK.) SYDNEY, July 5. The number and the cost of new buildings in the metropolitan area during the past year reached new records. Over 10,000 buildings were erected, at a total cost of £10,760,Q00. The previous record was in 1914, when 9928 buildings were erected at a cost of £6,930,000. One of the leading factors in producing the building record is the transformation of many of the older city buildings into modern skyscrapers. This transformation, is still actively in progress.
