The Farmers' Union Conference was continued to-day, when reports of the Fire Insurance Association and the annual meeting of the association were considered in committee. 'iie report of the Fire Insurance Association showed an increase in the net premium ol £SO ltts 3d. .New 'business totalled A remit was carried—"That the Farmers' Union be urged to promote the baooa industry and, it. necessary, seen the co-opera-tion of the Meat Producers' Board." A committee was set up to diaw up suggestions for a co-operative marketing aolieme and to prepare recommendations to the conlerenoe. The following remits were adopted:—To take steps to secure a reduction of auctioneers' commission on stock sales; that - auctioneers should be requested to announce the names of the vendor and purchaser at stock sales in public yttrds; that auctioneers should be required by law to give the name ol the owner when offering a line of stock, and also the name of the last previous bidder op demand; and that auctioneers and agents should be made respons.ble lor payments for sales in yards and paddocks.' Other remits protested against the rapid selling of wool at sales, a committee being set up to interview brokers and buyers. It was also decided that the Wool Brokers' Association should be' requested to reduce' the charges for handling wool and stock, and that station agents should be requested to give a further rebate of. wool charges' for receiving and weighing, and that wool should be sold on net weight.
