Trinity Tennis Club. A tournament for the Trinity buttons was held last Saturday, the winners being Misses D. and B. Wales, runners-up Misses Weaslall and R. Sowden. Magistrate's Court. At the Magistrate's Couit vest-crdav, before Messrs W. t. Lester, J.P., and F. Gl Norton, J.P.. William Frederick Higgs, :i firem-in nil the steamer Dorset, pleaded guilty to having received a pair of boots, the prop.?r.y of Now Zealand Shipping Company well knowing the same to have been dishonestly ob. taincd. He u-ns firud £5, in default one month's imprisonment. It was remarked during the hearing of the case that the Dorset had been badly pillaged. Municipal Elections. Nominations for Mayor and councillors for the forthcoming municipal election e'esed at roon yesterday. For the Mayoralty there are two candidates, the pros, nt Mayor, Mr W. T. Lester, and Mr W. T. Foster, an ex-council-lor and a candidate for the Mayoralty six years ago. There are fifteen nominations for (Ute nine seats on the Council. Thcv are as folows: Messrs J. H. Collins, D. "Grubb, T. Hempstalk, M J. Miller G. S. Morris, F. Newfield, W. R Newton, F. G. Norton, R. S. Rhind, P. C. Shirley, A. K. Smith, F. E. Sutton, W. W. Toy, J. R. Webb, and G. A. C. Whitford. Of those nominated Messrs Collins, Grubb, Miller, Morris, Webb, and Whitford arc members of the. rr tiring Council, while Messrs HempifaUc, Norton, and Toy tire ex-members erf previous Councils. The most noteworthy feature of the nominations is the amount of "young blood' offering.
