SUMNER. The final meeting of tiio Sumuer borough Council was held last night, Present: T.h.2 Mayor, Hon. J. Barr, M.LC, and Councillors H. C. Jamicson, V. E. Hamilton, P. Cooper, A. Holden, C. IT. lioswoll and T. E. Whitfield.' Correspondence was received from tho Ecdcliffa School Comniittea asking for tu' usual rebate on the water supply a;ici sanitation charges. The request was granted. The lighting- manager iu his monthly raport furnished the tollowing figures:—lb.} gau manufactured for March, 1923, was 1,011,200 cubic feet, and for March, 1922, 1,005,850 cubic feet, an increase of 5350 cubic feet. Tho committee hftl received a report from a professional engineer advising that part of tho road hadjpeen regraded and refilled, which, in his op,n:on, was construction and not maintenance. The commit:e recommended that the Heathcote Count.' Council be informed that this Council objected to p'ayToi-'that part of the road wi:io!i had been reconstructed, the Order-m-Council providing only for maintenance. It was recommended that tho land attached to the lighting manager's new house be fenced :n front with posts and wire and heavy wire netting, and the sides and back with posts and wire. It also recommended that thi sub-division plan, of Lot 1 D.P., 4202, submitted by Mr Simpkinson, be approved. The report was adopted.
