BOROUGH COUNCILS.

KAIAPOI. The Kaiapoi Borough Council met last night "Present —Tho Mayor (Mr J. H. tflackwell), sr.2 Crs. B. Dunn, T. R. Leii head. J?. Thorn, \V. B. S.-ott, J.H'rst H. "W. Trousselot, J. G. Yellowlees, H. Mcintosh, and J. W. Barnard. A letter was received from Mr A. Pearco offering to supply water for tho purpose of a fire sump on the North road. It was decided to thank Mr Pearce for the offer, which was accepted. On the amplication of the secretary of the Kaiapoi W.E.A. classes, a donation of £5 was made towards tho Association s funds. The secretary of the Kaiapoi Beautifying Association wrote asking tho Council to placo the sum of £l5O on the estimates for the ensuing year, to assist tho Association in their- work. It was decided to allocate £IOO. _ The Scoutmaster of the kaiapoi _Sea Scouts wrote appealing for a donation to the Scouts' funds.
