The monthly meeting ol the Bur-wood Progressive Aa&oolatlon via held In the Publio Hail on Wednesday, when the following members were present)— Messrs Bowse /(cjh|ir.mtan), Thomjtyxn (jwoKtarj), Broad' stook (treasurer), Cumberpatoh, Lowis, Reaby, Liggina, Hoppenden, Smyths, Robinson, Mk»K<fhniei, Patterson, Davidson. Wlkwn, Pankhurst. The ohairman reported that the executive hod deoided to deleto rule 3D relating to unfinanoial members. The tneasurer reportecb a oredit balance ol £B. *Che sub-committee set - up to interview resident* regarding hedge-«utting, reported that the work had been carried out. Tho chairman advised that the Waimari County Council had been asked to olear Bone's road, but so far the work bad not been put In hand. The sub-oommittee set up to discuss the formation of a band reported that ijh» natter was still under consideration. It wa* considered advisable that the road extonding from Craddook's oorner to the Bower Bridge should be named Burwoodl road, and it was deoided to ask the Waimarl County Council to give effect to the Aiuool&iion'o request. Mr G. Robinson presented a> petition signed by sixty-nine residents asking for the Association's support in their endeavour to have the post office transferred from its present site to Bligh's store, at the corner of Queen street. The Association gave its support and the petition will be forwarded to the Postmaster-General through the Cheif Postmaster, Christohuroh. It was decided to ask the Ghriitch'uroh Oily Council to fence the reserve at .Buxton's corner as drovers exnentenced dimoulty in keeping* stook on the road. A was set up oonsisting of Messrs Sharp, James, Wilson, Thompson and Bowse to report at next meeting of the possibility of having the reserve in front of Te Oianga transferred to a Domain Board far a eports ground. The Association wuwee'l a hearty vote of thanks to Mr H. Pattenion for his good work as representative of the Avon riding on the waimarl County Council, and promised ite support to him in tho coming election.
