DOMINION CONVENTION. (fBISS association rowMtiv.) INVEECABGILL, March 7. The thirty-eighth annual conference of the New Zealand Women's Christian Tcmpernace Union opened to-day. Delegates wero present from all parts of tho Dominion. Committee work was carried on during the day, and in the evening the delegates were accorded a publif; welcome, at which the Mayor presided. Mrs Don, Dominion presi T dent, responded on behalf o£ the delegates. Mr J. S. Baxter, on behalf of the local Prohibition League, said that ia spite of the results of tho last poll, there would bo no truce in the conniet with tho liquor traffic. Whatever legislation, might be suggested, the liquor interests would he sv.i£g«£C.inft legislation that wouid tie tho traffic round our necks. Ho exhorted hi.i hearers to keep watch and take step 3 to show the Prime Minister and members of Parliament chat they would not tolerate any retrograde legislation in dealing with tho traffic.
