MISSING.
PURSER OF FERRY STEAMER. On Saturday afternoon, shortly before 3 o'clock, A. Rashley;, assistant purser of the ferry steamer Wahirie, walked ashore at Lyttelton, saying that he was going for a shave. He lias not been seen since. It was at first thought that Rashley had merely missed his passage and would report later. The Wahino returned to Lyttelton yesterday, and there- is still no sign of the missing youth. Police parties searched the lulls in the vicinity of Lyttelton yesterday, but their efforts were without result. Rashley comes from Hobart, where he was in the Union Company's office. About a month ago he was transferred to Wellington, and, as he had expressed, a wish to go to sea, he was appointed to the Wahine about a week ago. His personal effects are in the Wahine, including a bank book, and there is nothing to account for his disappearance.
