BRITISH LABOUR M.P.'S.
FINANCIAL raPFICmLTIES. (By C»W«—Prws Association—CopyrirM.) (Australian and N.Z. Cabls Association.) (Received December Bth. 8.25 p.m.) LONDON, December 7. Many of the new Labour members of Parliament are finding they cannot make ends meet on £4OO per year, especially those from distant constituencies. One points out that fares for a week-end visit to his home cost £4, and his lodgings, meals, and travelling in London £4 10s a week, leaving him out of pocket without allowing anything for the maintenance - of his wife and family. The "Evening Standard" points out that the Labour Party consists of three sections—the intelligentia possessing either private means or literary earning power, trade union officials drawing an' extra £250 a year, and the newest members who have left positions or businesses to enter politics. The last are finding themselves haTd hit. The latest suggestion is the establishment of a residential club in order to reduce poor members' London expenses.
