THE INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION.

A BUSY DAY. The propitious weather conditions of yesterday, coupled with the general interest in the elections, no doubt were responsible for the large crowds in town, and consequently the big attend-, ance at the Industrial Exhibition. Certainly at the afternoon session there were more thau usual in attendance, and the tea-rooms and soft drink stalls did a thriving business. Mr A. Bidgood's orchestra contributed a number of enjoyable items in the lounge. As time proceeds many additional exhibits have made their appearance on the various Governmental Department's stails. Amongst these is* a Cook Islands' exhibit in the Department of Industries and Commerce chamber. The exhibit consists of mats, woven hats, fans, etc., and occupies a position of prominence in the chamber. The Forestry Department's stall has also been enhanced by several additions. _ One in particular is of exceptional interest, and comprises a new method of securing butter boxes with wire, thus effecting a considerable saving in wood and nailn. Good progress is being made with the arrangement of an interesting side-show which will be housed in the portion of the annexe previously set apart as a radio concert room. The visits of public school children continue, and yesterday the pupils of the Cheviot S,chool were present.

Last night the Exhibition was open until midnight, and the majority of the patrons congregated round the election result board. Considerable enthusiasm was shown as the figures went up, and one successful candidate (Mr L._ M. Isitt) who spoke was well received. A considerable number of people attended the cinema and radio concerts. The Woolston Band was in attendance, and the numerous selections proved very popular. Admissions during the day, exclusive of season ticket holders, were 2300. The total attendance was 5000.
