EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE.

The executive of the Dominion Indus-' trial Exhibition met last night. Present: Messrs W. J. Jenkin (cha'irman), T. W. Woodroffe, W. N. Charters, W. H. Winsor, J. A. Black, K. H. Webb, K. O. Bishop, F. E. Ward, H. Burson,' H. E. H. White, H. Willis, 0. 0. Warner, H. Bradley, S. Jackintm, F. L. Hutchinson, Gh M. Hall, L.-J. Scbmitt, J. Lythgoe. C. B. Bowie, W. Johnson. Apologies were received from Messrs J. A. Frostick, E. H. Wyles, H. J. Marriner, and E. H. Marriner. The chairman reported that everything was in a, most satisfactory condition. The Exhibition, he said, had been more successful than the most sanguine expected. Even the most "grumpy" man and woman in the city would have difficulty in finding fault. "We can congratulate ourselves on the success ofi the Exhibition as a. whole," he said; "there is a long way to go, but we hav© no fear for ultimate success." Every second man and woman that he met had not yet attended the Exhibition,- and the record attendance of 8000 ought to be exceeded during Christmas week. There would have been a larger attendance from, the North had the shipping not heeft held Up. Quite a number 1 of people had been prevented from coming down by the fear that they might inert be. able to get back. I'he treasurer (Mr Charters) reported ~ that the Space money so far totalled' a littfe over £3OOO. The report 1 was adopted. The chairman said he had invited the Hort. J. &. Coates, who was in charge of the Tenders Board, to visit the Exhibition and to go into the matter of buying goods. The Tenders Board would arrive- in Christehurch oil the 14th and remain until the 16th, and Would go into the matter. A conference betweeii buyers, exhibitors, manufacturers, and the Board would be held. The Advisory Board of the Empire Exhibition would nleo leave for Ck-ist-chiirch on the same date as the Tenders Board. It would then be decided what would be the proper.exhibite to send home to London. The chairman said he had had the pleasure of showing Mr Finlaysbn, Labour member for Brisbane} over the Barracks and he had been astounded at the quality ■ of the exhibits. A conference between Auckland. Wellington, Ohristchurch, and Dunedin manufacturers had. been held recent'y. The result had been that the Dunedin manufacturers had decided to pull with others and to help \ all they could. It was proposed to spend a Btim of £4o,' not Exhibition money, on advertising New Zealandmade goods at railway stations. The proposal was carried. Mr E. W. Marriner wrote stating that it waa proposed to bring 400 to 600 orphans to the Exhibition on December 23rd between-10 a.m. and noon. He asked that leave might be given ; hitn to make a public appeal for donations towards toya and refreshments. I
