LIFE-SAVING.
_« SUMNER CLUB. A meeting' of the committoo of the Sumner Life Saving and Surf Bathing Club was held in the Pavilion on Monday evening, when Mr H. Buttle presided over a good attendance. The resignation of Mr G. K. Billson was received with regret. A donation towards the club funds was received with thanks from Mr J. McCombs. It was reported that the New Brighton Club would be represented by a team at the official opening of the season on Anniversary Day. Two new members were elected. Messrs Dick and IMaxwell were appointed to the committee. , It was decided to secure two new lines for tho spare reels. A team is to be entered for tho Kesteven Cup competition, which will take place at Taylor's Mistake. The team will be picked from the following: H. H. Rich, F. Truscott, C. S. Booth, T. Smith, E. Allen, J. Browne, F. Suter, A. E. Allen, and F. J. Glnckin (instructor). The chairman reported that everything was going well for the official opening. Tho ladies' committee was working very hard, and the stalls should be a great success. Messrs Maxwell and Dick offered to run side-shows, the offers being accented wum lianks. It was reported that the Tramway Band had been engaged for the occasion, and that an endeavour would be made to arrange for a Pipe Band to head a procession from the tramway bridge. It was decided to give a massed display of life saving during the afternoon.
