MoPhail, R. B. Ward, H. H. "Wauchop' and J. O. McGillivray (secretary). Tho secretary of the Linwood Cricket Chi"b wrote protesting against tho Board's action regarding wickets at Lancaster Park.. Since the opening of the season the club had had five days' practice on the oval, and the rest on the "frog pond," which was "as rough as a paddock lor practice," and it-any 0 f tho would not v.se it on account of the danger from rising balia. It was very discouraging for a club to find that its members would not practise. Another complaint in the letter was the letfing of the ground to other bodies, as the Park was the home of the club for revenue from afternoon tea, etc. As a good rental was involved, the club thought it should have a fair deal, and should get what it paid for. Some members considered that a club should claim a rebiito for each Saturday so lost.
"Considering thev set their ground £OS cheaper than tho cluhs using Hagley Park, I don't think thov have got much" chance of a rebate," said the chairman.
Hr "Ward said that wickets had been prepared on tho "frog pond" because of tho topdressing cf fhc oval. The cluli were 'now back on tho oval, and had been for some time.
Mr Dey said that- everything could not he done at once, but it was proposed to put the "frog pond" wickets into bettor order next season. However, the practices were now back on the oval, where the wickets were quite good. The East Christchurc.il Club wrote in a similar strain regarding wickets
The chairman pointed out that the cl»Vi paid for the rise of tho Park, net of the oval. The letters were received.
The St. Patrick's Sports Association wrote applying for the use of the Park for its annual sports on March lGt-h and 171 h I<J23. The application was granted. '
