SANDERS CUP RULES.

(FBBSS ASSOCIATION TILIOKAIt.) DUKEDIN, November 39. In response to a letter from the Auckland Yacht and Motor Boat Association regarding the Sanders Cup, advising that, in the event of a nominated boat becomingaccidentally disabled, aubetjtuie may be nominated, the Otago Association resolvea that it could not agree, as tnat mc the banders Cup conditions. Otsgo noaiCitA uie support of other Aasooi&tions in this matter. ISFXOIA& TO " THH FB£M.") DUNJiDIiS, November 29. "The general opinion in Wtago and otaer southern provinces is that tne. Auckland iacni ana .Motor ±k>at Association hoe taien a narrow-minded view of tne bandeia Uup contests till tiuougn," said a wali-Jtaowa DuneoLin yachting enthusiast to a "Mar" reporter to-day, w-nen asited to give an opinion regarding Auckland's latest proposal to aiiow nomination of another boat just before the start of a race in the event of the boat first nominated being damaged. "TJie opinion amongst all southern yacht*men," lie continued, "ia tliat the Auckland Association want® to dictate to the other Association* and have its own way in everything. The Auckland Association hoa not considered any of the other Associations in any way when drafting the sailing conditions, Aucklandera seem to hold the opinion that, aa the Sanders Cup was presented', to them in the first place, it ia their property for a" time, and iu looiks as though they intend to use every means in their power, whether fair or foul, to retain possession. | "If the Auckland Association carried t&is ; latest one-aided: resolution, the members of it i would give it power to enter just before the i start of a race any boat which was not nomii nated. For instance, if their selected antl | nominated boat was & light weather one and the conditions were rough just before the | start of a race, they would be able to substi- ■ tute for that boat one more suitable to heavy | weather, which would be most unfair to the | boats from the otiier provinces. The present conditions, and the Auckland Association agreed to these conditions, state that all boats to race at Auckland early in the New Year must be nominated three weeks before the eailing date of the first race. The selected boat's from Southland and Dunedin will have lo be despatched to Auckland at least two weeks before the first race is sailed. If these boats should be damaged in any way i n . transit, the owners would have very little chance of obtaining another boat in time. It j will thus be seen that, if the other Associations agrsod to this latest one-sided proposition put forward by tKe Auckland Association. which they will not, the advantage would be entirelv with Auckland, and would gi y ® them a loophole in which to retain possession of the cup. There are several members of tlio. Auckland Association who are right these unfair tactics, but these evidently been outvoted. It is to be hoped, however, that the Auckland Association will see the unfairness of the proposition, and that the series of will be pailed under conditions satisfactory to the owners of boats j from each province."
