A Government crisis was averted by Sir George Fuller informing the party that he would regard it as a motion of oensure if the party did not endorse his action in appointing Mr Oakes as de-puty-Premier. An opportunity would be offered later in the week to discuss whether future appointments should be made by the Premier, or elected by the party.
