The threatened Ministerial split was apparently averted after a protracted party meeting to consider the appointment of an Acting-Premier during Sir George Fuller's absence, at which it is understood there was some plain speaking. Sir George announced that the meeting almost unanimously approved of his decision to appoint the Hon. 0. W. Oakes Acting-Premier.
