"STATE OP CHAOS." "The whole city is in a state of chaos as far as traffic is concerned," declared the Mayor at the meeting of the City Council last ask the chairman of the Traffic Committee 'to'make a statement as to when the regulations for the direction of traffic, foot and otherwise, are to be enforced." Or. J. A. Flesher said the Committee had decided-that certain crossings should be defined by parallel lines. Some of the crossings had been dealt with by the Works Committee, but until the scheme was carried out the Committee did not intend to ask the police to enforce the regulations relating to the. crossing of streets by pedestrians. The matter of the safety zone, was being attended to by the Works Committee. The ,matter of registering bicycles was also being considered by the Traffic Committee and the idea of. the Committee was to issue'a reflector which would operate as a regulation badge. The Mayor said the Council should avail themselves of outside help in regulating traffic such as was offered by .the Automobile Association and the Boy Scouts. Cr. H. Hunter said the raising of the safety zone in the Square was to he carried out immediately. Cr. C. W. Hervey said that the thanks of the Council were due to Mr H. Macintosh and his assistants for the work they had done during Carnival Week.
