Sir,— I noticed in your issue of the 6th inst. a report from your Timaru "Special," in which he says the interview your reporter had with me with regard to the origin of the Corriedale sheep did not show who was the author of the Corriedale slieep. I w ill try again. It was in .November, 1873, at tho Oamaru A. and P. Show, that I visited and had an interview with the late Mr Jagies Little as to a pen of sheep he was working in. 1 asked him the breed, as I had not seen similar sheep before. He gave me the information I required, saying he had a long wav to go yet to get the sheep to his idea of perfection. Now, your Timaru special says Mr Davison, late manager of the Levels Station, is tho author of the Corriedale. Mr Davison said he started to breed the Corriedale m 1874. Now the sheep shown by James Little i,„ . 'been shorn the previous season, showing that Mr Little had _ started the Corriedale previous to 1873, consequently, the late Mr James Little started to breed the Corriedale from scratch, tho others bringing «p the rear A<*nin, why was the *lioen ml'H rwWaleP Because, the idea occurred on the Corriedale Station. L think I have made myself understood, and shown who was the man who worked out this solendid sheep.
