LAWN TENNIS RANKING LADDER.
TO THE EDITOR OF " THE PRESS." Sir,— Upon perusal of the above in connexion with the lady players one wonders whether the holding of the championship for Canterbury is held by the selectors to be an honour to ho competed for. Why is it that the present holder is not heading the Ranking List: l Honour where honour is due, "and the one shown lirst should have to challenge for hist place, to say nothing of those who worked up into iinal 'and senu-final in the championship. if the majority of the ladies as placed by the selectors on the list is a sample of the ability of the selectors, one again wonders if representative'teams in the past were truly representative of Canterbury ladies' tennis, and if not, why not? The ranking list as it stands gives ample proof that it is ai new arrangement that is badly wanted, and has not come too soon, and will surely have results beneficial in the interest of tennis in Canterbury.—Yours, etc., ONLOOKER.
