On Monday afternoon a collision took plac© at the Wairarapa.terrace railway crossing, Fendalton, between 11 trniD and a motor-car owned and driven t» Mr R. B. B. Willis, of Soutlibridgc, who was the only occupant of the cal - . It appears that Mr Willi? slowed up when near the crossing, intending to wait until the train passed, but ho understood that someone wns beckoning him to cross, and thinking he hud sumcient time Mr Willis prooeeded. Ihe railway track is somewhat higher town the road, and the car, which wos run ning on the top gear, did not' get a fair chance to pick up, and stopped on the line. Mr "Willis succeeded in jump ing clear, but the railway engine, which was pulling up, struck the cai and threw it on to the cattle stops Fortunately the locomotive was brought to a stand still before it had gone moro than a short distance, and further dnm age to the car was averted. Tho body of the car was damaged a fid two of the wheels were smashed, out two new wheels were obtained and Mr Wiliia was able to drive the car home. ANOTHER COLLISION.
