COALITION SPLIT THREATENED,
(By Cable—Press Asaociatioa—Copyright.) (Auek-aJ&ni and N.Z. Cable Association.) SYDNEY, April 22. _ A split is threatened in the Coalition ranks owing to- the /appointment of a deputy-leader. The post was pronu:-ed to a Progressive, but. as the latter party was divided on tlhe coalition being effected, a number of Nationalists contend that the compact does not apply. The Nationalists contend that Mr C. W. Oakes (Chief Secretary) should bo deputy-leader. A meeting will be held on Monday to endeavour to arrive at a decision. Mr J. H. Catts has announced that the personnel of the Majority Labour Party executive includes Mr Skelton, an Independent Protestant Labour candidate.
