to inn editos or "thx miss." Sir, —Professor A. Wall, in his most interesting, humorous, and informative article upon beer, expresses a regret at not being able to givo Mr G. K. Chesterton's reply to a questioner, as to howhe wrote wilh such unvarying brilliancy. "Perhaps the following may bo the wished for quotation:—ln the August issue of the "Strand" Magazine for 1920 is an article entitled "Writers on tbe Warpath." by E. T. Raymond. Mr Raymond writes thus of Mr Chesterton:— "His .-journalistic time brought him in contact srith 'men who represented ail his pet antipathies. One — z distinguished complimented him on the unvarying brilliancy of his articles. How do you do it? he asked. Well, you see, said Mr Chesterton, T go and get some beer; then I get some' more beer; then T get quite a lot of beer; and then when I have nearly ns much beer as I want I sit down and it comes.
