EASTER TOURNAMENT. C. A. SEYMOUR AMATEUR CHAMPION. The Christchurch Golf Club's Easier Tour, nament was commenced at the Shirley Links on Saturday, and will be continued daily from to-day until the end of the week, Wednesday excluded. On Saturday the Canterbury championship was decided, as wall as two stroke and some capital golf was witnessed. According to local players and visitors, the Shirley course has never been seen in better order. This was due to the work put into the oourse last year, great credit being due to It. C. Butters, the dub'a professional, who now has sole charge of the liniks. , C. A. Seymour, now of the Christchurch Club, and formerly of South Canterbury, won the ohampionship, and in doing so certainly showed the most consistent form. His morning round was 75—36 out and 89 home, this boing the best of the day. His afternoon round was a 78. He was closely followed by J. C. Templar, who did the morning round in 78, and the afternoon in 76, the final difference being only one stroke. Inoidentally it might be mentioned that Templar'a poor putting on Wilson's'green going out in the afternoon cost him the championship. Last year's winner, B. B. Wood, who has had very little golf since the New Zealand championship, failed to strike form in the morning, returning a card of 86. He did a 76 in the afternoon, finishing up with IC2, which gave him fourth place. «A similar -score was returned by H. Branch, of Dunedin, whilst H. E. "Wright, of Tiniaru, filled third place with 161. Scott, of Timaru, last year's runner-up, failed badly in the morning round, for which he took 87, while his .card for the afternoon was 84. With regard to the handicap events, W. P. Anderson, with 77—6—71 in the morning, had hard luck in being beaten by an exceptional performance by Y. H. Robinson, of the Hagley Club, who, with a handioap of 12, put up a net score of 69. The afternoon match resulted in C. A. Quane and P. H. Wood each returning cards of 71 net, in consequence of which it will be necessary for them to play off for first place. Three players—Brasch (of Otago), and J. C. Templar and W. T.i D. Harman (of Christchurch), were second, with a score of 7* each. Following are the results; —
