McLood, headmaster; Wharenui, Mr F. J. Alley, licadmaster. Reports of Committees. The reports of the Appointments, Building, and Normal School Committers were adopted. Pa the recommendation of the Agricultural, Manual, and Technical Committee it was decided to forward the following resolution to the Education Itapai-tment: "That the Minister be I asked to reinstate the clause in the regulations providing that a capitation grant of 3s per heaa be paid for pupils receiving instruction in swimming and life-saving." Reasons in support were appended. The Finance Committee reported that it had been resolved to again ask the Department to pay over promptly moneys due to the Board. Miscellaneous. A letter from tho Cashmere Committee, regarding further proposals to overcome the difficulty in respect of religious "instruction, was reoeived. 'Hhe Public Trust Office, Hamilton, wrote notifying the Board of a bequest made by Aobert Jarvie, under which the Board at its discretion disposes of half of the residue of deceased's estate, either to the Bumham Government iSehool or to any other public school in New Zealand more in need of the money. '

I Th© letter was referred to the Finance Committee. To the Appointments Committee was referred tihe protest from two Papanui householders against the action of the chairaian of the'committee in refusing to accept their nominations, alleged tp have been handed-in three minutes after 8 p.m. It wns decided to renew the inanranoe of- school children. On the motion of Mr Bignell, seconded by Mr Snencer, it was resolved that the whole Board, as a committee, go into the question of staff salaries and report, to next meeting. Mr Pererill reported the unanimous resolution of th© meeting of Waimairi householders in favour or a subway at Hawthorne road, and n. footpath from, the Bryndwr station. It was decided to acquaint the Hailway I>egaartment with this decision.
