SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

ANNUAL ELECTION. At the annual meeting of house* holders, held on Wednesday, School I Committees were elected as given below. At a majority of the meetings, resolutions were -carried protesting against the present method of appointing teachers, and strongly urging use Government pot to stint the vote for education. ~ BECKENHAM. It was resolved to protest against any attempt by the Christchurch City Council to us© the springs in Beckenham Park to augment the city water supply seeing that «uch action was likely to interfere with the supply to the school bath. G. Newton, J. W. McWhirter, T Carlisle (secretary), and Mrs A. Puddle. • CASHMERE. At the annual meeting of householders in the CfLahmere school district, Mr J, C. Prudhoe was voted to the chair. The annual report referred to the efforts made during the year to secure additional land; to tho re-smmgement of the classes in order to avoid the erection of additions to the buildings; and to the refusal of the Education Department to provide the deficiency in incidental expenditure. It also stated that the committee was in correspondence with the Board of Education with the object of securing such alteration of tho bylaws as will allow of the recital of the LorS's Prayer before the opening of the school.
