CHARGES AGAINST SPIRITUALISM.
TO THE EDITOE OF ,: TEE TRESS." Sir,—After reading the column report on the Page case, and noting that some applause ivas sternly suppressed when a. 'witness testified that lie had seen a musical-bos floating around (which, I and many other 3 have ako seen), the decision was a. foregone conclusion, though the ca«o was tried before the "sihrowdest and wittiest'magistrate in New Zealand." The Bible tells us that, the truth is not revealed to this class. It wiU be interesting to follow up. the source of that letter from Sir Conan Doyle. It may give us a clu© to the spring that periodically makes the law jump for us ■ Spiritualists. The date of the letter must, have been a bit disconcerting. Then follows the SubInspector with !his little pleasantry, "But if a Spiritualist comes up to the standard of a fortune-toller." How some of my friends will chuckle when they read that little word "up." The case and the decision is very timely, coming as it /loes on the eve of the conference of tho National ■ Association of Spiritualists which opens hero on Friday. Even as tho law stands at present, it surprises .me how easily ouf mediums are trapped, knowing what ,they | are up against. If they were "shrewd" I suppose they would not bo mediumg.—Yours, etc., PETER TROLOVE. April 12th.
