SUMNER MATTERS.
TO THE EDITOR Of "THE FItESS." Sir, —Recently I drew the attention of the Borough Council and Health Department to the- stagnant state of the Richmond Crcek outlet, and suggested as a remedy diverting the creek and culvcrting it along Richmond walk to the !*<«. I am glad to be advised that the Borough'"Council has asked the Mayor and engineer to report upon diverting this watercourse. There is- some- question an to whether its present course if. a. natural one. If not, it should certainly ba diverted and culverted as suggested. L have also called the- Council's attention to Mo open space- between tho Cavo Rock Hotel and Bca<:h Houso, liUggoiting this be secured and planted iu o flowor' = 'btxls., No doubt the prctont generous ov/ners -would bo agreeable to dispose of this'property for the benefit of tho borough' at a reasonable, figure, and if approached they may bo prepared to leave the whole or most of the purchaso money on at a low interest rate. I feel this open space y ill in years to com© bo so valuable to Sumner that wo should, lose no opportunity to ucquiro it for tho borough.—Yours, etc., J. L. CLARKE. Sumner, April 11.
