CANTEESUBY COLLEGE CLUB. The annual meeting of the Canterbury Collego Boxing Club was hold" last evening. Piofeseor T, G. E. Blunt presided over a very good attendance oi member*. 'J.Jic&e taking part gave and showed marked improvement under the instruction oi Mr. Hull. '.i'he .thanks oi the cluk were dui> to tho president, Professor Blunt, through whose agency, a valuable cup was presented to the club by the members of the Ocllege stuff and a tew outside iriend* of the College. It hn<l been decided \a award this cup to the most scientific boxer at/the club's annual tournament. The oup had been won for tho first time by S. Farquhttrsoi!, to ■whom the club's congratulations wars extended. A valuable! cup had been presented to tho club by Mr A. Fairbairn, a member, of the Board of Governors, whose generosity to College clubs was already well known. Tlie committee felt that the best way to : thank Mr Fairbairn for his gift was to unite and endeavour to win the Easter tournament. College - 'blues" had been awarded during the year to R. A. Lawther, S. T?arauharson> and D. Jeune. The balance-she»t showed'ft small credit balance. . ■ "
In moving tho adoption of tha report »nd balance-sheet, Professor; Blunt congratulated the club on its successful year. Tho club Tiad a good spirit, a good instructor, and a good trainiiis-plncc. A few mora members wculd, however, b? on advantage. The necessity of keeping fit could not be too strongly emphasised. Thp engineer, and the teacher would both profit by a knowledge of boxing. The club's tournament had b?en a great success. Professor Blunt expressed the opinion that the Canterbury College representatives would make a, fine showing at Auckland. A'l members of the club phould do their best to ensure a good attendance at iho tournament on Saturday night to as. to assist in the fund to send tho representatives to Auckland. Tho report and balance-sheet' were adopted. A hearty vote of thanks was parsed to Mr D. Jevinb, the retiring secretary, whose work dnrinjr the past year had ensured the success of the club. The frcrefnry wm instructed to write to M> O. Lancaster, headmaster of the Boys' Kieh School, thanking liim for the support he had so generously given the club. BECKETT-COOK FIGHT.
