Low arrived in Christchurch yesterday- to make arrangement for the Christ-church season of Miss Ella Shields, the famous London cornElla Shields, the famous London comedienne, and her company. Mr H A. Adley, secretary of the Canterbury Fire Underwriters' Association, and Mr F. Il Shcpherd GhiefElectrical Inspector, left on Saturday morning for the AVest < Coast, on tlheir annual visit of inspection.

At the meeting of the W.E.A, on Saturday evening, Dr. C. Chilton referred to the success of tho Association's tutor on the West Coast, Mr _H. Belshaw, who had passed the examination for the M.A. degree, with firstclass honours in economics. This distinction lhad been gained only by two other graduates of the College—Professors J. B. Condliffe and D. B. Copland.
