The young man arrested in connexion with the Gates tragedy is Ronald True, on aviator. He was remanded on a charge of murdering Gates, and stealing Iter jewellery valued at £2OO. True, who ia married, acted as an instructor in aviation in England and America.
Detectives gave evidence that they found the jewellery in True's overcoat. True baid he could explain this. He left Gates with another 1 man .violently quarrelling, and fighting on the night of the murder.
[Tho body of a young woman, Gertrude Gates, known as Olive Young, was discovered in a bathroom in a fashionable ria£ jn Fulham, gagged, with the throat cut and the head battered. A man who was a frequent visitor left hurriedly in the morning, telling the maid not to disturb Gates, who, he said, was sleeping. A later message said the son of a titled lady was arrested in a Hammersmith music hall in connexion with the murder/]
