ARBITRATION COURT.
Tie Arbitration 00-urt yesterday awarded £35 to Mrs M. F. Dent, of Dunedin, as compensation for tlio death of her eon, Frederiok Robart Dent, vho died as a result of an accident when he was working on a. threshin" mill owned. by Mr J J. Matthews, RtTigiora. The accident occurred on March 23rd 1921> Mia Dent claimed that she was partially dependant on her son. The Court stated that it was satisfied that the eon had paid lier more than the cost of board and lodging. It was difficult, however, to decicb how lonsf ho woul3 have oontinued to do'so. At tho time of his death he appeared not to -be on (rood terms with his family. He may have intended to marry before lone. It was, however, possible that he might have settled any differences with his family. It was a point in favour of plaintiff that until December, deceased was on affectionate t»rms with his family. Plaintiff would be awarded £35 as compensation, and' £l2 12s co?te.
