' ' « SUPREME COURT. IN DIVOKCE. (Before his Honour Mr Justice Aduas.) PETITION DISMISSED. Samuel Trethewey (Mr A. T. Donnelfy) asked for a dissolution" of his marriage with Annie Trethewey (Mr F. S. Wilding), on the grounds of desertion. After evidence of the petitioner had been heard, the case waa adjourned until the afternoon. On resuming, Mr Donnelly said he had advised hie client that he could not succeed. .Under those circumstances, Mr Donnelly did not propose to proceed further. The petition was accordingly dismissed, with coats to the respondent. CROSS-PETITION SUCCEEDS. Cecil Louisson (Mr C. S. Thomas) asked for a dissolution of his marriage! with Lucy Maria Louisson (Mr H. H. Hanna), on the grounds of desertion." Mrs Louisson, who had been living for some considerable time in Chicago, U.S.A., cross-petitioned, and appeared at the Court. Mr Thomas said that, in the ciroumstanoes, as respondent was anxious to secure a divorce, petitioner was willing to withdraw his petition, so that his wife could secure the decree. A decree nisi was granted to respondent, with coeta on the'lowest scale, and custody of the child of the marriage was granted to the respondent. - UNDEFENDED CASES. Tracy) was charged with having-failed to have!the words "licensed dealer" printed in legible characters beneath, his name, and also with having failed t<> make proper entries in, hia book. Defendant was fined 10a and costs on the first, and £2 and costs on the second charge. DISMISSED. —. MoDonald, aged 20 years, residing at 144 Fisher street, Beckenham, was charged with having failed to'tender hia~fare when a passenger on a tramcar. .The charge. dismissed, ,but defendant was 'Ordered to ;pay costs; amounting-to £2. ■ - BY-LAW CASES. j - Maxwell Steel Ramsay (Mr R. Twyneham) was charged ,with having been ■ drunk while in charge of. a motor-car, with having had no certificate of ability, and with having) driven at a dangerous speed. The thmi charge was dealt : with' first and waa dismissed, there being no definite evidence that defendant was driving the i car -at; the time. The firat infohnatiori was also dismissed, and the second was adjourned.. Charles Robert Aston (Mr W. F. Tracy), charged .with having procured possession of a, firearm without a permit, was ordered to pay costs, 7s. Ronald Gavin Todd, ■ for delivering possession of th© came firearm without a permit, was also ordered to pay 7s costs. ■ .

Herbert 8. Brett, found in .possesion of an unregistered firearm, was fined 10s and costs.

Hugh Cato, for driving over a level crossing without complying with the notice, was fined £1 and costs.

For over a crossing, Arthur Labcelot Cyril Watkina waa fined 30a and coeta. Horace Watts, for leaving a vehicle : and horses unattended, was fined 5s and costs. James Fleming was fined 6s, and costs £l' Is, for allowing "cattle to wander. ■ A chargo of permitting a person without a permit to drive a oar, against Herbert H. Cook, was dismissed. James Johns, for leaving a car unattended, was fined 10s. Nelson Okey was fined a'like amount on a similar charge, -a. like chargo against William Taylor wm dismissed, (subject to defendant paying costs. Arthur Perry, taxi driver, was pharged W,itb refusing to take a fare. Tne information was dismissed.

Frederick Josiah Murray, for failing to provide regulation dustbins, was fined 10s 'and costs on one charge. Convictions were cntereu on two other similar charges against Jjim.

ASHBURTOK (Before Mr E. D. Moeley, S.M.) Hit Worship- gave his (reserved judgment in Police v. F. Porter, a taxi-driver wiio Iwaa charged with taking liquor into a no-lioenas area! without first proouiing an order, and with failing to produce an order to the police offioer. His Woiship held that Porter was a carrier under Section 8 of the Act,. that he failed to secure an order, and produce same to a police officer. Defendant waa fined £3 with' costs. In respect to two other charges I arising out of the same facta, Porter wu convicted and discharged. John Templeton, a lad, pleaded guilty to painting and defacing the window of H. W. Cant, <grcle dealer, Burnett street. A fine of 10s with ccsts 17s was imposed. H. A. Nichols, licensee of the Metliven Hotel, Methvcn, pleaded not guilty to delivering liiuior .to be taken into » no-license district without keeping a s copy of such older «0 required by th« provisions of th« Licensing Act. A fine of 6s was imposed.
