EMIGRATION.
EXODUS OF EX-SERVICEMEN. BRITISH GOVERNMENT'S SCHEMES. (By Cabl*—Press Copyrifrkt.) (Australian and KT.Z. Cable Association,.) (Received March 2nd, 9.45 p.m.) LONDON, March!. The Overseas Settlement Committee anticipate the despatch this year of another 25,000 ex-service men and their dependents abroad, bringing the total to over 100,000, at a total cost to the Imperial Government of £2,250,000 -upon ex-eervice men alone. Probably the majority will be despatched to Australasia. It is understood that the Government Bill premised for this session will follow up the ex-service men's emigration scheme by a civilian scheme based on the decision of the Imperial Conference Migration Committee. The Imperial Government intends to allocate £1,250,000 during 1922-23, provided the Dominion Governments desiring emigrants will contribute equally. It is improbable that the civilian emigration scheme will be inaugurated until all ex-servicemen desiring to emigrate have been dealt with.
