Tho "Chronicle" states that there has been a considerable falling off in the bar trodo in the Wanganui hotels lately. , A well-preserved aval-shaped piec« of cloth, vards long and 2 yards broad, has been found in apeat boe at Vesfcer Gotland Sweden. Tho clotn had eridcntly been used as a cape, and is estimated 'o be about 8000 years old.
