SYDNEY MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.

Tlie anti-Labour Press is jubilant! at the result "of the city ©lections, which it professes to regard as a test of poetical strength between the Australian Labour Party, as bosses of the municipal council, and the State Parliament and the opponents of that party; and also as an index of public sentiment in a possible Stato ©lection later on. Summarised, the Press, and largely <#ib public, sentiment is that Labour, as represented through its Town Hall majority, has reaped the overdue harvest of its deserts.
The Lord Mayor, Mr Lambert, attributed Labour's defeat to the Legislative Council rejecting tho City Fraadhise Amendment Bill, to having t« fight tho whole forces of Capitalismand to the boycott by the "corrupt ana lying Press." He added: "Democracy will not be baulked for long. The wili of the people will see that tho obsolete Legislative Council is swept away."
