BUILDERS' FEDERATION.
ANNUAL CONFBBENCB. (PRESS association telegram.) INVERCAEGILL, December 1. The conference of the Builders' Federation was concluded to-day. The following officers were elected:— President, Mr H. Mainland (Wellington); vice-president, MrW. H. WinsOr vOiiristciiurch;; treasurer, Mr W. J. Uiark (Wellington); executive, Messrs W. 11. Bonuett. H. M. Wilson, A. H; Mildenhall (Wellington),. J. C. Brown, J. I)ick (ChristchureE); representative on Employers' Association Advisory Board, Mr H. Mainland; representative on Parliamentary Committee, Mr W. H. Bennett. A discussion took place on the position of ±ho kauri timber industry and the following resolution' was carried: "That' this representative conference of the Builders,' Federation .of New Zealand unanimously requests the. Government': (1) To enquire into the evident mistake or misrepresentation in the returns for the vear ending March 31st,-1921, concerning kauri timber. During the'year kauri timber has been almost unprovable in New Zealand, and we believe that' the statements that 18,445,657 superficial feet of kauri were placed on the New Zealand market were far. fr<npi correct, nt 'east 60 far as the use of timber in New Zealand is coiiceijned. (2) That it immediately prevent the further exportation of this valuable timber which caifoot be replaced and rigidly regulate the sale and _ distribution of the remaining 136 million odd feet now the property of the Crown.-'
